Student Nutrition Program

The Student Nutrition Program supports elementary and secondary schools across the Algoma District by providing annual grants that support the purchase of nutritious foods for a breakfast, lunch, or snack program.  By promoting healthy eating and providing nutrition programs in school settings, students have the potential of achieving optimal health, growth and intellectual development.

How do I apply?

To apply for a Student Nutrition Program Grant, you must submit your application to:

Obtain a grant application form

What is the deadline date?
Grant requests are due January 31st.

When will I be notified of the outcome?
The AFS Student Nutrition Program Advisory Coalition will try to respond to requests for funding by April 1st.

When will I receive my grant?
Cheques will be issued early September.

Accountability Requirements:
On a monthly basis, schools must submit a statistical report to Algoma Family Services Student Nutrition Program.   These reports not only demonstrate the need for continued funding, but also support the need for increased funding as the numbers of students served, meals served and new applicants increase.

Reporting Deadlines1st of every month; i.e., September’s report is due October 1st, etc.
